Portrait of photographer Gabriel Haering
I am a wildlife photographer driven by patience, observation, and deep respect for nature.

Wildlife photography is not my only professional activity. Alongside my photographic work, I am actively involved in supporting startups and innovation projects.

This parallel path influences the way I work in the field: structured, intentional, and long-term oriented.

Photography is therefore not a volume-driven business for me — it is a conscious choice.

Because it is not my sole income source, I have the freedom to:
  • Focus on quality rather than quantity
  • Select safaris and projects that truly inspire me
  • Spend time studying behaviour and light
  • Prioritize ethical and respectful wildlife encounters

When I am in Tanzania — whether in Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti, Ruaha, or Nyerere — I work slowly and deliberately. I observe before I shoot. I wait for behaviour. I look for atmosphere.

I do not photograph everything.
I photograph what matters.

In addition to wildlife photography, I document landscapes, cities, and cultural impressions from my travels around the world.

This broader photographic work reflects my second passion: travelling and discovering different environments, atmospheres, and visual stories.

This website provides a wider perspective on my photographic journey beyond the African continent and gives insight into my visual approach across different countries and subjects.

Travelling enriches my wildlife photography.

Different light, architecture, climates, and cultures sharpen the eye and deepen the visual sensitivity I bring back to Africa.
Ethics are central to my work. I collaborate closely with experienced local guides and follow park regulations strictly, maintaining generous distances and avoiding any disturbance to wildlife. No image is worth causing stress to an animal or showing disrespect to the people who call these places home.

When I photograph communities or individuals, consent and context matter. I prefer quiet, collaborative encounters, explaining my intent and taking the time to listen. This portfolio reflects that approach: images created with patience, curiosity and respect.
This site is dedicated solely to my colour work from Africa. It sits alongside my other projects, each with a different focus:

  • A black-and-white photography site, where I explore graphic compositions, contrast and mood in a purely monochrome language.
  • The main sales website, where you can browse available fine art prints and request image licensing for editorial or commercial use.
  • A dedicated photo safari website, with detailed information about guided photographic safaris, itineraries and practical preparation.

Together, these sites form a complete picture: this portfolio shows my personal colour work, while the other platforms offer ways to collect prints, license images and travel with me in the field.
If you are interested in collaborations, assignments, guided photo safaris or specific images from this portfolio, you are welcome to get in touch.
