African Wildlife Photography Portfolio
A curated selection of African wildlife photography, organized by animal subjects and visual themes.
This portfolio brings together color photographs of some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife: big cats, elephants, birds, giraffes and zebras. Each gallery can be explored individually, allowing you to focus on a specific subject, behavior or visual mood.

For me, wildlife photography is not only about the animal itself. It is about light, space, patience and the moment when behavior, landscape and composition come together. A lion in soft morning light, elephants moving through dust, birds reflected on water or zebras forming graphic patterns all become different ways of telling the story of Africa’s wild places.

Use the links below to open the individual animal portfolios.

Wildlife Photography Beyond the Species

Although this page is organized by animal families, the photographs are not intended as simple wildlife records. Each portfolio is built around the visual identity of the subject: the texture of elephant skin, the intensity of a predator’s gaze, the geometry of zebra stripes, the elegance of giraffe silhouettes or the color and movement of birds.

I often look for images where the animal is part of a wider visual story. Light, background, dust, water, clouds and vegetation are as important as the subject itself. A strong wildlife photograph should not only show what was seen, but also convey the atmosphere of the moment.

A Personal Approach to African Wildlife Photography

My approach is based on patience and respect. I prefer to wait, observe and allow behavior to unfold naturally rather than forcing the scene. Many of the strongest images come from staying longer with a subject, watching the light change and refining the composition slowly.

This is also why the same species can appear very different from one journey to another. Elephants photographed at Lake Kariba, Tarangire or Amboseli do not tell the same story. Lions in the Serengeti, Ruaha or Kenya are shaped by different landscapes, light and moods. The animal remains the subject, but the place gives the photograph its voice.

From Portfolio to Prints, Licensing and Safaris

Some images from these wildlife portfolios are available as fine art prints or for image licensing. If you are interested in a specific photograph, a limited-edition print or editorial use, you can contact me directly or visit the dedicated prints and licensing website.

For photographers who would like to experience these moments in the field, I also organize and personally accompany selected photographic safaris in Africa, with a strong focus on light, composition, animal behavior and respectful wildlife observation.
